Hometown Heroes is long term photography and photojournalism project about my hometown, Thetford Mines.
For many decades (1890 - 2012), it was home of one of the biggest chrysotile mining center in the world.
In 2012, the town's last extracting mine, mine lac d'amiante, closed down permanently, leading in the unemployment of the last 350 workers.
Today, even if the town has successfully diversified its economy, Thetford continues to struggle with environmental issues caused by the careless mining practices from the past.
Shot on Mamiya 7, Intrepid 4x5 and Digital Medium Format
